Over the weekend, December 12-14, Camp ASCCA hosted its annual Christmas Weekend. We had campers of all ages, and staff from this past summer and previous years. Christmas is a magical time, no matter where you’re celebrating, but the magic of ASCCA mixed with the holiday spirit is like no other.
Soon enough, on Friday afternoon, our campgrounds were filled with our beloved campers and dedicated staff. You could feel the excitement in the air. Everyone was ecstatic to be at the place so many call “home” and eager for what we had in store. We kicked things off with a concert with Willie Pearl at the BcK4T! Willie Pearl joined us for the first time this summer and put on an electric show. It was so exciting to welcome them back for an ASCCA Christmas.
Saturday morning is when the fun really began! It was like stepping into a winter wonderland. The gym had a complete makeover, Christmas trees lining the walls, games everywhere, a life-sized snow globe, and so much more. It was the ASCCA version of the North Pole. A magical morning spent soaking up the holiday spirit.
After lunch, we hosted our 11th annual Jingle Jump fundraiser. This is our biggest fundraiser to date, and all the donations go directly towards our Campership Fund, which allows us to give financial assistance to those attending Camp ASCCA in the summer. Our participants were dressed in festive and a few tacky Christmas outfits, and one by one took the plunge into the freezing water of the ASCCA pool. Though the water was frigid, the excitement and cheers radiating from our campers and staff cheering them on made up for the ice-cold water.
In the evening, campers had the opportunity to participate in various free-choice activities like, cookie decorating, fishing, bungee trampoline, giant swing, karaoke, Christmas around the world, and more! There was something for everyone! We even got a special visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus! That night, the Christmas extravaganza continued with Christmas-themed trivia.
In the blink of an eye, our weekend was beginning to wind down. Sunday morning, we had a talent show. Everyone knows that anytime spent at Camp ASCCA isn’t complete without a talent show. We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again, the talent on this side of Lake Martin can’t be beat. All in all, this was the perfect weekend. Any time spent with the ones you love is time well spent.
Though the 2025 ASCCA season is now coming to a close, we hold tight to the laughs we shared, the love given, and the moments that turned to memories. It’s not a goodbye, just a see you soon.
