The weekend was full of challenging, outdoor activities for the Lakeshore Foundation’s event Operation Rise & Conquer. With Saturday morning came all new activities, with new challenges in tow. The visiting injured military members from around the country continued to take on challenges that many of them did not think they would be able to do since their injury occurred. However, the ASCCA staff along with the Lakeshore staff reassured every person that where there is a will there is a way, and all of the weekend’s activities were adaptable for anyone interested in participating.
As the weekend continued, one man shared with me how his experiences in the military helped him through each event. He recalled his time in the Army training program where he was told to always trust his instructor, trust his equipment, and then trust himself. Any time that he questioned his ability or the safety of the activity, he reminded himself of that trust and conquered every program. It is that type of trust that we do our best to instill in every camper that comes through the gates of Camp ASCCA because nothing is impossible here.
We had an incredible time with the Lakeshore Foundation this weekend and look forward to future events! You can check out a few of the weekend’s activities here!
