During Free Choice today, camper’s channeled their inner Picasso as they painted with special guest B’Beth Weldon. A full-time artist from Fairhope, Alabama, B’Beth has taken workshops such as this one all around the globe to places like Beijing, France and more!
As stated on her website, these “Gifted Masterpieces” workshops were started in 2010 and are a creative space “where participants can forget about their limitations as they step out of their comfort zone and stretch beyond the borders established by their challenges and society.” B’Beth says that she always had the desire to give back and this was her way of doing that.
Campers started off with a single canvas upon which B’Beth instructed them to paint whatever makes them happy. Some campers painted the name of their favorite counselors, sunsets, flowers, hearts and more! When they were finished, they posed for a photo with their masterpieces, smiling brighter than a summer sun on Lake Martin.
Then they got two smaller blank canvases which they used to create whatever came to mind. Alot of campers decided to paint their hands put their handprints on each one! Everyone’s artwork was so awesome and displayed each of their unique personalities that we get to witness all throughout the week. This activity was really popular today!
A big “Thank You!” to B’Beth for visiting us! We’re so appreciative of all that she does through her “Gifted Masterpieces” workshops. Stay tuned for more Session 5 excitement on Flickr,Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and right here on our website!
