Today, campers got to participate our new Panning for Gold activity during their afternoon Free Choice rotations. Located behind the arts and crafts building, everyone got to enjoy the scenery while searching for precious “jewels” like Red Rubies, Blue Sapphire, White Ivory and more!
The way the activity works is campers fill their pans with dirt that contains artificial jewels and uses water pumped from the lake to sift through and pick out their treasure. At the end, they get to keep the jewels they found and show them off to all their friends. The excitement in their faces every time they found a new jewel was so awesome to see! Just like the rest of our activities, Program Staff members were present to help facilitate and answer any “jewel” questions the campers had. Our staff do such an awesome job at making sure every activity is enjoyable for the campers and we appreciate them for it!
The ideas for some of our newer activities have come from inspiration Camp Administrator John Stephenson gets on trips he takes. With that inspiration, members of the Maintenance Staff help him bring the vision to life and campers get more opportunity to have a blast during their time at Camp. The different activities we have to offer is just one of many things that makes Camp ASCCA so unique!
Be on the lookout for more Panning for Gold fun on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Flickr, and right here on our webiste!
