Happy Fourth of July to everyone! It was a beautiful day here at Camp ASCCA with only a fifteen minute shower of rain, and it did not interrupt our jam-packed agenda. The festivities carried on today with the constant chant of “USA!” from morning to night led by Dalton, one of the most energetic campers you’ll ever meet. Every cabin including the dining hall was decorated with Independence Day decorations. Every camper and counselor was dressed in American flag gear from head to toe. There was face paint, face jewelry, beads, hot decorative pants, tutus, and hairspray everywhere I looked. We started out the day with each cabin chanting as loud as possible their traditional chants at the other cabins, and this happens every morning.
This was the most enthusiastic Fourth of July I had ever been a part of. A tradition here at Camp is serving watermelon on this marvelous day no matter rain or shine. Unfortunately we had to do our fireworks the night before due to the chance of rain last night, but they were still just as epic. Of course we had to close the night out with our amazing talent show. There were at least twenty campers that showed up and showed out for the rest of the camp. “Party in the USA” was definitely one of those songs that got everyone on their feet hollering the lyrics to the top of their lungs. I am sure almost everyone’s vocal chords were a tad bit sore from last night. “Gods Plan” by Drake was a huge pickup for everyone because every person knew the words and everyone was just smiling away. I know everyone enjoyed their time at the show and their Independence Day.
