Revisting the Monster Mash Week

Another exciting week of Camp ASCCA comes to the close, and it was the week where Mobile took over the camp and had a blast! Sesson 5 theme was “Monster Mash”, where the place was transformed into a haven for monsters (better known as the program staff and counselors) helping campers enjoy themeselves.

Campers from the Mobile Rotary spent six days enjoying the thrills of Camp ASCCA, such as the waterslide, demo farm, talent show, nature trails and tubing. The session began with their arrival; staff members who stayed at camp greeted them on the parking lot Sunday afternoon. A handful of counselors and staff members also made the round trip to and from Mobile, where they helped out with sign-in stations and luggage.

After the welcoming party, campers went to two nights worth of evening activiies. Some chilled in the pool during the pool party sessions, while others tested their luck at Casino Night games.

The Monster Invasion and the dance were the two highlights of Session 5. On Wednesday, monsters (potrayed by program staff) invaded Camp ASCCA grounds and the campers drove them off through a series of games. The next night, everyone celebrated the week by boogeying at the Monster Mash dance. Campers and staff members came there, ready to dance on in their monster costumes.

On Friday morning, the Camp ASCCA family bid farewell to the Mobile Rotary campers as they headed back to Mobile. Campers hugged and thanked their counselors for the last time before they departed.

Pictures from Session 5 are now posted on Camp ASCCA’s Flickr page. In the meantime, stay tuned for blogs on Week 6, where Camp ASCCA goes Hollywood!
