Saddles and Sweet Treats

Each summer Macon ARC campers come ready to enjoy every activity, new and old, at Camp ASCCA. However, there is always one particular activity that draws the attention of many. For many campers that visit Camp ASCCA, horseback riding is the most awaited event of the week, and the Macon ARC crew is one group that treasures this event every summer they visit.

This summer, the Outdoor Education Director, Alex Dumais, was immediately approached about the new horse and the schedule for the week. With a quick grin, Alex let everyone know that the horse would be out and ready to go at the beginning of the week.

I headed out to join them one morning and could not help but notice the smiles on the faces of each camper as well as the outfits made up of horse t-shirts and horseshoe earrings. Some campers even approached the riding ring with an apple in tow to treat the horse to something sweet.

It is the incomparable love that people have for this place that makes it so special and the joy on each face that makes every summer so memorable.
