Saying Thanks and Goodbye to Pi Kappa Phi

Session 3

Last night’s prom was a major success due to the hard work of many volunteer groups. We had some lovely ladies come out from Chandler Springs Baptist Church to lend a hand, the flowers were donated by Hall’s Florist in Opelika, the awesome band that came out was Route 66, and many individuals like Matt and Mollie McMillian, Mrs. Elise Williams, Melody Ritchey, and Deidra Lunsford were crucial in putting on the event.

Our thanks would not be complete, though, without mentioning the great group of Pi Kappa Phi cyclists of the Journey of Hope southern route team. These young men made such a visible difference from serving dinner and helping set up the dining hall to just dancing with and cheering for our campers.

Beyond what they did for us at camp, we’d like to thank them for their work this summer across the entire country. These awesome guys are cycling from Long Beach, California to Washington, DC over a span of two months, stopping in and helping out at places that cater to people with disabilities. This is a yearly trip put on by Push America, whose focus is helping those with disabilities. So far this year, Journey of Hope has raised over $600,000 to go towards people with disabilities and facilities that cater to them. We really enjoyed having them here at camp and are so grateful for all they do!
