On Thursday, June 17, Dana Rickman and Madi Davis, were able to join the Alexander City Kiwanis Club meeting. The Kiwanis Club is an organization that contributes all services to children and young adults. Each year the Kiwanis Club members pool together resources to discover new ways to impact their local community. The Kiwanis Club conducts service projects that are based on evaluations of children issues and community needs. The Kiwanis Club members were kind enough to invite Camp ASCCA to attend their weekly meeting.
At the meeting, Mrs. Rickman was able to share the importance of donations, camperships, and funding for Camp ASCCA. She also discussed the impact that the COVID-19 pandemic had on Camp ASCCA and its campers. Mrs. Rickman highlighted key features of Camp ASCCA’s impact. She showed the Kiwanis Club members that for some campers, this is the only social resource they have access to. She also directed their attention to the need of funding to reach out new campers that may have previously not had the opportunity to attend camp. Mrs. Davis was able to build on this by sharing stories that she has experienced both as a staff member and a family member to an ASCCA camper. This opportunity allowed Camp ASCCA to promote its mission to serve others. Thank you Kiwanis Club for allowing time to illustrate the significance of Camp ASCCA and its unique opportunity to cater to diverse needs of all ages.
