On Wednesday we had our Session 5 pool party after our Patio breakfast to switch things up a bit this
week. It wasn’t just an ordinary pool party, it was a camp-wide pool party that everyone could attend
and enjoy. The lifeguards and other program staff members prepared the pool area with Hawaiian
themed decorations to commemorate the week’s “Luau” theme. Everyone got to hang out with all of
their camp friends since there were so many of us in one spot! There were many fun pool toys available
that added to the pool party experience. Some people were in the corner shooting hoops with the water
basketball and net, while others played pool volleyball on the other side. Those who decided not to join
us in the pool made use of their time wisely as well. Some people decided to draw fun pictures with
sidewalk chalk, while others decided to lie down and try to catch a tan in the bright July sun. The gym
and viewing deck over the pool were also available.
When the Luau fun was over, we headed up towards the dining hall where we were surprised to see a
Talladega Superspeedway pace car! Judy Williams, who is a Camp ASCCA staff alum starting in 1976,
brought the car for a visit so campers could sit in and take pictures with it. It was a very cool experience!
All in all, the pool party was a blast and a great way to start the camp day.
