Session 6: Summer Staff Besties!

Here at Camp ASCCA, we love making new friendships that last a lifetime. We also love celebrating lifelong friends who reunite here at Camp!

*Elise and Riley have been best friends since the very beginning!*

This week we have a very special best-friend duo here at Camp. Elise Quinn, our full-time social media specialist, has brought her best friend Riley Weldon to Camp to work as a summer nurse! Nurse Riley came all the way from Birmingham to work for Sessions 5 and 6.

Elise and Riley were in the same class in second grade, and they have been inseparable ever since. They have experienced each other’s major life events together, and they attended school together up until college.

Riley obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Samford University, while Elise graduated with her Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations from Auburn University. After college, Riley and Elise both moved to separate cities to begin their careers, but their bond is still as strong as ever!

Outside of Camp, Riley is an emergency room nurse. She enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, but she has loved getting to use her passion at a place like Camp ASCCA.

“Being a summer nurse here at Camp has brought me a new perspective of nursing,” Riley explained. “I’m so used to working in a fast-paced environment, so coming here has allowed me to use my nursing skills in a place meant for fun.”

Even though their careers have taken them to different places, they love the fact they can be here together while doing the things they love.

“I absolutely love having Riley here at Camp with me,” Elise said. “Getting to share this special experience with someone like Riley is so fun.”

Prior to becoming a full-time staff member in 2022, Elise was a public relations intern in 2019. She has been involved with Camp ASCCA ever since, and she is so happy that her best friend can finally see all the amazing things she has described over the years.

“For so long, Riley has heard me talk about Camp and how much it’s changed my life,” Elise said. “Knowing that she’s getting a glimpse of how much it means to me is so special!”
