On September 17th, John Stephenson and Dana Rickman attended the Alexander City Civitan Club’s Installation Banquet. This club has been tremendously generous to Camp ASCCA over the years and we are glad to have them as friends.
The evening was extra-special for two reasons. First, Camp ASCCA was given two boxes of linens for Camp. The money raised to buy the items was from the Civitan’s “candy boxes” that you may have seen around at area businesses. We appreciate the support from the members and the community who give to these boxes.
And secondly, Jim & Dawn Yerkey were honored as Civitans and for their years of work. The Yerkey’s retired from Civitan that evening and it was bittersweet. They are ready to move on to relaxing a bit more and taking on less! They both will remain volunteers for Camp ASCCA, just scaling back a bit in the ways they help out. Jim Yerkey has been a Civitan for 45 years! He’s held just about every office there is in his local club and the Civitan District and he’s never stopped working hard for other people. Dawn Yerkey has been a member for 12 years and has been an important part of the Civitans. Every club needs a member like Dawn to pull off all of the important events and fundraisers!
Thank you Alexander City Civitans, and thank you Dawn and Jim!
