For the past 40 years Camp ASCCA has been welcoming Summer Staff to a magical place that changes not only the lives of the campers that sign up for summer camp, but it is a life changing summer for the staff. This week 37 new staff members were added to the forever growing ASCCA family and 42 returning staff were welcomed back home.
Orientation week has been a long, yet rewarding week for our Summer Staff. Our Summer Staff has been working hard and continues to work hard so they are all prepared to make this the BEST SUMMER EVER for all of our campers here at Camp ASCCA. They have been working hard this week learning skills needed so they and their campers have a fun yet, safe week at camp. These training sessions have been eye opening and humbling experiences for our staff, especially new staff members. Through activities such as, icebreaker games and orientation trivia the staff has learned to trust their training and to trust their co-counselors. It is hard to believe that most of our Summer Staff just met each other 5 days ago. Looking at them today they act like they have known each other for years and those bonds will only get stronger as the summer continues.
It is crazy how a place can go from being an unfamiliar place full of strangers to a place that is home surrounded by family that you couldn’t imagine life without.
