During our nature group rotation today, our campers learned about the constellation and discovered which constellations they could see at night around the camp! They explored the names of different constellations and learned about the various sizes of stars. There was a collective gasp in the room when they found out just how big the sun is compared to the Earth.

After their lesson on constellations, the campers had the chance to create their own! They drew designs of what they wanted their constellations to look like, and with the counselors’ help, they poked holes in the bottom of cups to replicate their drawings. Once they finished, we turned off the lights and shined a flashlight through the cups, making their “stars” appear on the ceiling!

Each camper created amazing constellations. One camper even designed the Auburn University logo, while another drew Terry, our lizard. There were so many wonderful ideas, and all the campers had a blast creating their own constellations! This activity was engaging for everyone and allowed each camper to express their uniqueness. It was such a fun experience to be a part of!
