State of Our Watershed Conference

On Friday April 20, 2007, Camp ASCCA will host the Third Annual State of Our Watershed Conference – The Tallapoosa River Basin. This is a FREE conference for anyone interested in learning more about the health of streams, lakes and rivers that comprise the Tallapoosa River Basin. The conference is sponsored by the Tallapoosa Watershed Project (TWP) and the Middle Tallapoosa River Basin Clean Water Partnership.

Other topics that will be discussed:

  • The condition of recreational fishing
  • The economic and development vision of policy makers
  • Watershed management strategies
  • Community participation in watershed management
  • Environmental education programs developed by scientists and educators of the TWP
Included in the program will be representatives from Auburn University’s Department of Fisheries and Allied Aquacultures, the City of Alexander City, the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, the Lake Martin Area Economic Development Alliance, the Alabama Department of Environmental Management, the Alabama Power Company, the Alabama Cooperative Extension System, Lake Watch of Lake Martin, the Alabama Clean Water Partnership and Alexander City School System.

This year’s keynote speaker will be Beth Maynor Young, renowned river photographer and conservationist.
