PANAMA CITY BEACH — They marched for charity through cold mornings and sunny afternoons, in rain or shine, camping out at night after grinding blisters into their feet through 20-mile days.
During the six-day, 130-mile trek, the five fraternity members from Troy University concocted verbal games to keep their minds off sore muscles and aching feet, or they would continue a minor argument for hours just to stay occupied with something more than the road stretching ahead.
They arrived in Panama City Beach for Spring Break on Wednesday and made the final push to Pier Park in a drenching rain, carrying pocketfuls of memories from folks along the way handing out cups of water or waving to wish them well, and with the knowledge they had raised needed money for children with disabilities. more…
