The Goodnight Song: What It Means To Us

As the nights come to a close at ASCCA, staff, counselors and campers hold hands to share a special moment together that not everyone can understand the magnitude. Within this circle, people of all abilities gather to sing a song that perfectly portrays what Camp means to them.

The Goodnight song goes like this:

“When we grow too old to dream, we’ll have you to remember. When we grow too old to dream, your love will live in our hearts.

So campers hold hands, and say we’ll never part, for Camp ASCCA and all our friends will live within our hearts.

God gave the wise men their wisdom, and to the poets their dreams, to father and mother, their love for each other, but he left me out so it seemed. I wandered ’round broken hearted, thinking life was an endless affair, but when God gave me you, it was then that I knew, he had given me more than my share.

So campers hold hands, and say we’ll never part, for Camp ASCCA and all our friends will live within our hearts.”

Throughout the week, campers and staff become family. The love they hold for each other is unique, untethered to expectations and conditions. They take pride in good company and authenticity. So as the sessions go on and time passes over the years, our time at ASCCA will be cherished in our hearts forever. We will dream of the amazing people that we meet at Camp.
