toureastalabama.com includes Camp ASCCA’s Environmental Center!

If you are looking for something to do while spending time in east Alabama, please check out this website www.toureastalabama.com for some ideas!

The East Central Alabama Tourism Committee graciously included Camp ASCCA’s Oscar C. Dunn Rotary Environmental Center as an attraction. Visitors are encouraged to come to the Center by appointment only, however.

From the site:

The Oscar C. Dunn Rotary Environmental Center is part of Easter Seals Camp ASCCA, a nationally recognized leader in providing outdoor therapeutic recreation for children and adults with disabilities. Located on the far northern part of Lake Martin, the Center is open to the public by appointment and is divided into three large areas: an extraordinary scientific exhibit room, classroom area and a large audio/visual room. Murals by illustrator Barry Nehr, ecosystem displays and interactive presentations are only a part of Camp ASCCA’s Environmental Center. The Center is constructed with a large wall of windows overlooking Lake Martin, as well as local flora. Bird activities are observed with an in-birdhouse camera. In addition to the 3,600 square foot Environmental Center, there is a 1,500 foot-long boardwalk nature trail, weaving its way through the wooded surroundings which provides for additional environmental education opportunities. Contact Camp ASCCA and confirm your appointment to visit this amazing educational center. School science camps and other educational groups are welcome by appointment. www.campascca.org or 256-825-9226. Also visit our Environmental Center webpage.
