Tower of Zip

Today, several campers challenged themselves to the Zip Tower during Free Choice activity rotations. This is usually an activity campers want to do after they’ve gone down the Zip Line earlier in the day. It’s almost like they graduate from one high ropes activity to the next!

Located behind the Girls’ Cabins, the Zip Tower is a few feet higher than the Zip Line, and is a farther distance across as well. Adding another element of challenge to the course are two rock-climbing walls on either side of the platform. One of them is at an incline, making it a little easier to climb. However, the other rock-climbing wall is much more traditional, with no incline.

For our campers who use manual or electric chairs for mobility, we have a traverse that allows them to be pulled up to the platform and get on the Zip Tower that way. No matter what abilties they possess, we stil make sure that every activity is accesbile for camper’s enjoyment!

Sometimes we have returning campers who have done the Zip Tower tons of times and it’s like a cake walk. Other times we have returning or new campers who are trying it out for the first time. In either case, it’s always fun watching them climb and see their counselors and fellow campers cheering them on. It’s even better to see them go across and once it’s over, getting unharnessed and talking about how much fun they had.

Counselors even joined in on the fun today, which the campers really enjoyed! Other Free Choice activities for the day included pool, waterslide, fishing, Wii Room and Arts & Crafts, with other Sign-Up acitivities added in as well.
