Dr. Mike Hall has a genuine and sincere enthusiasm for life itself very few in this world can match! And because of this, he is absolutely one of my most favorite people. I look forward to seeing and working with him each year; although it rarely feels like work.
For many years now, Mike has been bringing an entire class of students from UNA to visit Camp and to work with our campers. He says this experience for his students is invaluable and I fully agree. The students are prepared and trained for their time at camp. One part of that preparation is what Mike calls “fireside chats.” He invites several speakers to visit the students before they leave for camp. For the last eight years, he has included me as a guest speaker.
On May 16th, our “chat” for this year was underway. The students were encouraged, as always, to voice their curiosity and speak candidly about special needs issues. It never ceases to amaze me that within ten minutes a great conversation has begun. I wish Mike and his students all the best with this year’s upcoming visit to camp.
