Volunteers – Doing Good in the Community

Danielle Maros and other Harris Doyle ‘Do Good’ volunteers paint at Camp ASCCA.

We continue to be blessed by many individuals, organizations, and businesses that understand the Easterseals Camp ASCCA mission of serving children and adults with disabilities. This week we were fortunate to receive in-kind labor and supplies from Harris Doyle Homes and a local division of Sherwin-Williams. These two companies partnered together to clean, caulk, and paint the Alabama Elks Association Welcome Center & Tom Collier Nature Center. The new building signs are still going up, but the building now has a fresh exterior!

Will Chappell is a Superintendant for the Auburn Division with Harris Doyle Homes. The company was looking for an organization to give back to with their Do Good service initiative project. Will suggested Camp ASCCA as a no-brainer. Will worked for several summers and weekends at Camp ASCCA from 2011-2015 as a counselor, programs staff member, and a unit leader. His passion for Camp ASCCA and for people with disabilities has continued throughout his life.

Will connected Camp ASCCA Camp Director Matt Rickman with Harris Doyle’s Auburn Division Project Manager Danielle Maros right away! Danielle is also on the company’s Do Good team. Moving right along with the project, the Do Good team got in touch with Sherwin-Williams to ask them for supplies and paint. Coincidentally the paint company was also looking for a service project as part of their employee’s community engagement for their area. A collaboration was born and we are thankful to be the recipient of their generosity.

Will and another employee of Harris Doyle Homes visited a few days before to clean and caulk the building, but the whole Harris Doyle/Sherwin-Williams team of volunteers showed up on Wednesday. We hope you enjoy the photos of the day! We are tremendously grateful for these people and the companies. It takes people like these for Camp ASCCA to continue to do what we do each year.

From the Harris Doyle website on their Do Good project:

“Harris Doyle Homes is passionate about giving back to the communities in which we live and work, and we strive to use our resources to make a difference in the lives of those around us. From the Sherwin-Williams website on Community Engagement:

“Making a difference in and for our communities is part of the proud Sherwin-Williams legacy. Our community engagement efforts include an intentional focus on supporting causes and charitable organizations important to our employees, communities, customers and stakeholders around the world. We strive to maximize our community engagement impact by committing to causes where we believe we can make the biggest difference for our neighbors.”
