Today after dinner, campers and counselors all enjoyed free choice activities! A few groups were lucky enough to go to the Demo Farm and make homemade ice cream! Program staff employees Mary and Briana led the exciting event.
Each camper and counselor was given a plastic bag in which milk, sugar, and vanilla extract were mixed together. They sealed these bags and set them to the side. The campers were then given bags with ice and ice cream salt. The first bag was placed into the second bag and closed. The contents were shaken repeatedly in order to turn the liquid into a solid.
Everyone was excited to witness the magic! According to some campers, the ice cream made in the farm tasted better than store-bought ice cream. We are so glad we were able to celebrate the Fourth of July with a cold treat! Visit our Flickr album to see other pictures from the farm, Fourth of July, and the rest of Session #1 at Camp ASCCA!
