My name is Karen Everett Powell. I was born in Alexander City, Alabama and continue to live there today with my family. I have a bachelor’s degree in Information Systems from Auburn University Montgomery and have continued to grow personally and professionally daily. I have 10 years experience in the field and hands-on programming/IT experience for financial teams, with an overall 16 years of professional experience.
In these 16 years, I have worked hard to gain the knowledge that I have in many areas. I have acquired the skills and knowledge in HTML, ASP, VB, VBScript, Microsoft SQL Server, COBOL, Eztrieve, CRYSTAL Reporting, internal auditing with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act ), remote assistance tools, network administration, and knowledge of how financial systems operate. I have also worked one on one with users and large groups. I have worked with all levels of people and participated in diversity training.
My hobbies include a wide range of activities such as running 5K’s for different charities, kayaking, canoeing, and camping. I was a dance/gymnastics teacher for four years and I have coached the 7-8 year old youth cheerleaders for three years.
I am so thankful for the opportunity to work for Camp ASCCA as the Finance Clerk, and look forward to many years of dedicated service!
Karen Powell was hired as our full-time staff Finance Clerk in December 2011.
