Yesterday Camp ASCCA welcomed the 2015 summer staff to their home for the summer. It was an exciting day as old friendships were rekindled and the makings of new friendships began. To kick off Orientation Week, the staff were encouraged by the members of Camp ASCCA’s first summer staff: Judy Williams, Eleanor Craig, Becky Gibson and Tommy Bice.
As we all sat listening, you could see the memories flashing through their minds as they smiled and told us about their time spent here at Camp ASCCA. They shared stories of how Camp ASCCA not only changed the lives of their campers, but how it changed their lives as well.
The 1976 summer staff became more than just coworkers that summer, they became family and the Camp ASCCA family continues to grow. We are even seeing sons and daughters that share the same love for Camp ASCCA. First year program staff Bennett Bice is following in his father, Dr. Bice’s footsteps and is honored to become part of the Camp ASCCA family. We are all honored to get to play a small part in how Camp ASCCA makes a difference in the lives of its campers.
The 1976 staff ended the night by saying, “we hold you accountable for something we started over 30 years ago. It is an honor to work here and we leave it in your hands.”
We as a staff have big shoes to fill but we are ready to see what this summer holds and become part of the Camp ASCCA family.
