What a Sweet Night

What a week it has been for the campers and staff of Camp ASCCA. Yesterday was the last full day of Session 3, but more importantly, it was the Second Annual ASCCApalooza. For those of you who do not know what ASCCApalooza is, I would describe it in two words, absolutely amazing. ASCCApalooza is a music festival that we host during the summer for our campers of Session 3. ASCCApalooza is more than just music, it is a chance for a lot of our campers to experience a music festival which is something that a lot of them have never experienced before.

Yesterday started off like any other with normal program rotations in the morning, but after lunch and rest period, it was time for us to dance and sing. This year, we had several different individuals come out and perform for us, including last night’s final performance Sweet Tea Trio. We had some great performers before dinner last night but once dinner was over, everyone rushed back to the gym to get ready for Sweet Tea Trio to start. Sweet Tea Trio is such a talented group that has so much passion in what they do.

Last night I had one of those moments where I just stopped to take in something. At one point during the concert, the lead singer started walking around the dance floor dancing and singing with campers. As she walked around she stopped to sing with one of our campers that throughout the week has been shy and not very social with other campers. When she sang to him, his face was all smiles, and he even started singing along with her. Sweet Tea Trio not only brought Camp ASCCA a great performance but they brought smiles to all of our campers faces.
