Campers showcased their gifts at the very first talent show of the summer! It was also the first talent show held in the new OutPost. In previous years, talent shows were held in Lion’s Lodge, but the tiki-bar scenery of the OutPost was perfect for the occasion, making it much more intimate and entertaining.
Earlier in the week , counselors raced to sign up their campers for their various acts to be performed in front of everyone. It’s safe to assume that talent shows are kind of a big deal at Camp; almost as big of a deal as Thursday night’s dance! Throughout the week, campers are thinking about what talent to perform and even practicing a bit when they get the chance.
Some of our campers sang songs they sung during their Music activity rotation. Others showed off their awesome dance moves that they’ve given us small previews of during the week. We even had a few comedians come up on stage that had everyone laughing their socks off.
In between performances, campers enjoyed shaved ice of their favorite flavors and socializing amongst friends. It’s always nice to see the campers cheer for one another and encourage those who may be a bit more shy. All of them show so much courage throughout the week as they do different activities, but especially on this particular night. For some of our campers, getting up in front of big crowds isn’t so easy. But they go up there, giving it all they’ve got . Plus when you’re surrounded family, there’s nothing you can’t do.
It was truly a sight to see and we can’t wait to host more talent shows at the OutPost this summer. Be sure to check out more talent show fun on Flickr and stay tuned for more Session 1 excitement on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and right here on our website!
