Camp ASCCA has positively impacted individuals with disabilities, their families, and dedicated staff for almost 50 years. At ASCCA, people are valued and celebrated for who they are, not defined by their disabilities. We provide year-round, inclusive, and barrier-free camping experiences for children and adults with disabilities — a truly unique space where campers can embrace their individuality and independence in a supportive, supervised environment.

Emerson joined the Camp ASCCA family in 2023 and has returned every summer since, and for various weekend camps. She greets everyone with admiration, love, and patience. Now, she shares her ‘Why ASCCA’ story.
“My Camp ASCCA journey began the summer after I graduated high school. I applied on a whim, not realizing how deeply this place would redefine my heart and life.
From the very first week, I quickly understood what everyone meant when they call Camp ASCCA home. I fell in love with the camp and the campers, with the way joy seems to pour out of every moment and every person. I’ve watched courage take root, laughter fill the air, and friendships grow in the most beautiful ways.
I spent two summers as a counselor and this past summer as a med passer. I’ve loved experiencing camp for each of those different perspectives. Each day at Camp has been a reminder how powerful love, patience, and humility can be when you choose them first.
Now I’m a student at Auburn University studying to become an occupational therapist, and I can see just how much ASCCA has shaped who I am and the path I’m on. The campers have impacted my life in ways I can’t put into words, and I’ll forever be grateful to have taken part in something so meaningful.
