Big Stage, Little Moments

After a long afternoon of checking in, campers and staff settled in at the Big Stage to get to know each other. The evening entailed fun games and good music with great conversation. Campers played various outdoor games like cornhole and ladder golf. They also faced off in a fierce competition of card games.

But as someone looking from behind the lens, I saw something more. I saw the little moments…the ones that go unnoticed. As they threw the football, I saw the sweet celebrations. The kind that would bring a smile to your competitor. As they played UNO, I heard infectious laughter that made me chuckle just hearing it. As they listened to music, I felt the love growing in the air.

These little moments are authentic because no one asked them to happen. They are just natural. It’s people being themselves. At ASCCA, strangers become friends for life in less than a week. How you might ask? It is because of the little moments like these.

My evening may have been spent at the Big Stage, but I was caught up in the little moments and transported into a state of pure bliss. It is a blessing to see Camp from this peaceful perspective.
