A Summer to Remember: My Farewell as a PR Intern at Camp ASCCA

It’s hard to believe my time as a PR intern at Camp ASCCA has come to an end. What began as a summer internship quickly became one of the most meaningful and unforgettable experiences of my life.

When I first arrived at Camp ASCCA, I expected to gain hands-on experience in public relations—writing blog posts, taking photos, managing social media, and capturing the day-to-day magic that happens here. What I didn’t expect was to walk away with a heart so full, inspired by the incredible people I’ve met and the stories I’ve had the honor to share.

Every day at Camp ASCCA brought something new: from the energy of morning flag to the laughter at the talent shows and the quiet moments in between where campers and staff reminded me what genuine connection looks like. Being behind the camera or keyboard gave me the chance to witness so many of these moments.

But beyond the content creation, this role taught me the power of storytelling with heart. It’s easy to talk about activities and schedules. It’s something else entirely to tell the story of a camper’s first zip line ride, or the way someone lights up when they reunite with a friend from summers past. Those are the stories that make Camp ASCCA what it is: a place where everyone belongs, grows, and shines.

To the campers—thank you for reminding me what joy looks like. To the staff—thank you for being the most welcoming, and supportive team I’ve ever worked with. To my PR team- thank you for always making me laugh on the hard days and supporting me with my work in every way possible. And to Camp ASCCA—thank you for letting me be part of your story this summer. You’ve changed mine in ways I’ll never forget.

As I pack up and head into my next chapter, I’m leaving with more than just professional experience. I’m leaving with a full heart, and a very special place to always call home.

Thank you, Camp ASCCA. Until Next Time.

With much love,

Emersen Spohr

Summer 2025 PR Intern
