“Wednesdays are for the boys!” That was the motto for tonight as the guys enjoyed having the dining hall all to themselves, while the girls were off doing their own thing. Other than Prom, this is also a night that campers look forward to throughout the week.
Tonight was girls night! The unit leaders, program staff, and counselors all got together to think of the perfect way to celebrate the young women joining us during session 3! They all decided on decorating cupcakes, painting nails, laying down to relax, dancing, and writing promposal posters for the guys!
Sports Camp was treated to a visit from the Auburn wheelchair basketball team. Nathan Waters, Accommodation Specialist at Auburn University brought basketball wheelchairs and as well as some members of the team.
The Sports Camp crew were treated to a fun morning of scuba diving!
The day we’ve all been waiting for finally arrived! Campers enjoyed music and fun at our first annual ASCCApalooza. This mini music festival was held at our new OutPost building with special performances by Nashville Bound, Charity Bowden, Jackson Capps, Sweet Tea Trio and more! Some of our campers don’t get to experience something like this outside of Camp, so we were more than happy to bring the experience to them.
We had many visitors here at ASCCA today including current and past board members and representatives from Rotary clubs across the state.
At Camp ASCCA, rain won’t ruin our parade! Some inclement weather was moving towards camp this evening so what was supposed to have been a pool party turned into a cabin talent show! Campers were too excited about this talent show to be upset about the pool, especially because they will be visiting the pool throughout the week anyways.
Sports Camp’s Monday started off with skeet shooting and fishing after breakfast. In the afternoon after lunch and good rest, Sports Camp headed to zip tower.
After campers recharged with a nap and snack, they headed to their various Free Choice Activities for the afternoon. One of the options was a fun pizza making class with special guest Mark McClurg. Mark is the co-owner of Little Italy Pizzeria in Auburn, Alabama!

This week, every day is a different dress-up theme! We will be participating in Marvel Monday, Tie Die Tuesday for ASCCApalooza, Wonderful World of Sports Wednesday, and True to ASCCA Thursday. This week is different than any of the others because everyone dresses up every day and because the week ends with prom on Thursday night!
Girl Scout Troop 7282 of Auburn, Alabama, returned today with cookies and lemonade for parents and campers during check-in. After dinner, they stayed behind to do a fun arts and crafts activity with everyone. Throughout the summer they’ll be on site doing other fun activities with campers as they work towards their goal of receiving the Girl Scout Silver Award. As mentioned in an earlier blog post, the Girls Scout Silver Award requires 50 hours of community service from each Girl Scout Cadette and is the highest award they can earn!
