We kicked off our 2026 ASCCA season with an unforgettable outing to the Georgia Aquarium! Members of our full-time staff, along with a few campers and staff from Randolph County Learning Center, had the opportunity to explore the aquarium and experience the incredible wonders of the ocean.

Upon arrival, participants taking part in the swim with the aquarium’s gentle giants checked in, watched an informational video, and completed a safety briefing. After learning the rules, swimmers changed into wetsuits and were fitted with goggles and snorkels before heading into the water.
The 30-minute swim offered up-close encounters with whale sharks, manta rays, sharks, and a variety of fish—truly a one-of-a-kind snorkeling experience. With 6.3 million gallons of water and depths ranging from 20 to 30 feet, the exhibit is one of the largest aquariums in the world.

While the swim was underway, our other campers and staff followed along through the exhibit, watching the swimmers from outside the tank. They also enjoyed a behind-the-scenes tour, which included a visit to the aquarium’s animal hospital, a look at a baby orca whale, and a glimpse of the equipment that keeps the aquarium running.
It was such a special day spent with friends, filled with adventure and new experiences. We are incredibly thankful to the Georgia Aquarium for inviting us back for a third year—we had the absolute best time!
