High 5 For Session 5: The End

This afternoon, we will wrap up the fifth session of our 50th summer at Camp ASCCA. Since this week was all kids, we tried to pull out every fun activity we could to make the week extra entertaining.

We started the week off with a game of Banana Olympics on Sunday. This boosted our energy, setting us up for a great week ahead. The next few days consisted of our weekly programs: zipline, pool, tubing, arts and crafts, and demo farm. At each activity, we had the pleasure of watching the excitement light up campers’ faces. On Tuesday night, we held our ASCCA Talent Show together, featuring a variety of talents, including drumming, singing, and dancing. On Wednesday evening, we made a splash at the pool party, ending the night at the splash pad and waterslide. We danced the night away on Thursday, celebrating our last full day together at Camp.

Reflecting on the “super” week we’ve spent together, we think about all the good times we had. We watched campers come out of their shells and start building friendships with both staff and other campers. We felt the love that campers so easily gave to us here at Camp. Looking back on Session 5, we can only think of one word: blessing. What a blessing it has been to spend the week with awesome kids who love life so strongly despite their disability.

To the parents, thank you for allowing us to love on your children. To other readers, thank you for delving into our world at ASCCA through this blog. We are truly grateful for you all!
