Our time at Camp is filled with lots of cheer and joy. Each session, including this one, reminds us of the tender love that far surpasses the surface level. ASCCA plants seeds in us that take root, spreading into every aspect of life. The memories expand in our hearts, fostering a beautiful perspective on people.
As we finish this session and prepare to begin the last of the summer, we have been feeling the tug of Camp on us—the difficulty of leaving this place and these people. It brings sadness for a future without them, but it also sparks delight in their company. It makes our time together even more powerful.
For those who have never experienced the highs of ASCCA summers, you might not understand the gravity of our emotions, but we would like to describe it as best we can in a few sentences. ASCCA is watching campers soar on the bungee trampoline when they feel weightless for the first time. ASCCA is gathering in the dining hall for a meal, and bursting into song, singing “Lean On Me.” ASCCA is seeing someone’s light shine as brightly as it was made to. Camp ASCCA is love, and when we are together, love grows here. Roots are planted that draw us back. These people and this place continue to be the biggest blessing that we never knew we needed.
