There are so many sounds and special noises here at ASCCA. These noises are among the many factors that make Camp what it is. Without these noises and sounds, it simply would not be Camp ASCCA! It is hard to choose just 3, but these are the ones that make Camp ASCCA the most special place on earth: laughter, chanting, and singing.
Laughter: This is something we are every hour of every day at Camp. Whether it’s in little moments like telling jokes to one another or in big moments like making funny faces in the tube, it is genuine every time. Laughter is what fuels campers and staff to have such special moments. There is never a shortage of laughter here at ASCCA, and that is very evident when we go about our daily lives. Laughter is one of the things Camp ASCCA thrives on, and without it, Camp simply would not be the place it is.
Chanting: This might be surprising, but this is something we do a lot at ASCCA. It can mainly be seen in the Dining Hall during love notes or ASCCA Achievements. When a camper is rewarded with an ASCCA Achievement, we chant, “We are proud of you!” as they are walking up. This is something the campers and staff love doing to make the camper winning the award feel special. We also chant a lot during love notes. When a camper asks someone to the dance or concert, we chant “They said yes!” so the campers know they got an outstanding yes from the person they asked!
Singing: This might be not only the most important sound at ASCCA, but the one we see the most! We hear it every week at the talent show and also at karaoke. This is one of the campers’ favorite activities by far, and it truly showcases their personalities. Camp ASCCA would not be the place it is without music, and that is just proven every summer we are here. There is nothing more special than letting the campers shine on stage by singing and dancing to their favorite songs!
It feels almost impossible to only describe ASCCA in three sounds, but these sum this special place up pretty well! All of these sounds and noises make ASCCA unique and special to everyone who walks through the gate of Camp. We will continue to hear these sounds and associate them with so many memories for years to come!
