The quality Camp ASCCA embodies the most is belonging. It is our mission to make campers feel included, loved, and part of a community when they are here at ASCCA. In every decision we make or word we say, we make sure that it creates a sense of acceptance.
Something worth highlighting it how hands on and thoughtful we are about accommodation. A summer camp being fully accessible for those with disabilities is something truly exceptional. All of our walkways, activities, and spaces are designed to be accessible to every camper who comes to ASCCA and it is so special to see.
This can really be seen with the adventure activities we offer. When it comes to adventure, we give the opportunity to campers with physical disabilities to ride our ziplines when they more than likely wouldn’t be able to. Our staff is trained in transferring campers from wheelchairs to ziplines and letting them ride down exactly like someone without a physical disability. Our Outdoor Adventure Specialist, Tre, will even double ride with campers who are unable to go down alone and this is something truly remarkable to see.
Camp ASCCA makes sure to keep the sense of belonging going in the aquatics activities as well. When campers are unable to ride down the waterslide alone, we use a tube to allow them to experience the waterslide like any other. We also make sure to give every camper the chance to go tubing and swimming by accommodating whatever needs they have. Our counselors will swim and hold campers in the pool to make sure they still get the experience of swimming.

While having physical accessibility is something so important, what is truly worth highlighting is the feeling of belonging campers experience while at Camp ASCCA. Campers having the opportunity to be around those with similar lives and experiences makes them feel seen and accepted more than ever. Campers are never going to be surrounded with those as similar to them as they will at ASCCA and that is something so special.
Giving campers the chance to do things they would not be able to do anywhere else is what makes Camp ASCCA tick. Belonging, happiness, and involvement are some of the many values we cherish here and showing them to our campers is even more important. There truly is no place like ASCCA and we continue to see that every day!
