Pre-Prom: Girls Day and Boys Day

Every year on Prom Day, the girls and boys separate for the morning with their counselors to get ready for the big day. ASCCA Prom is a very important day here at Camp, so of course it had to be planned accordingly.

The girls spent their day in the theater room of the office doing all things girly! Girl counselors and unit leaders started the morning pampering campers with face masks. The program staff set up a nail station for each girl to get her nails done before the Prom. They provided a candy salad with all of the best sweet treats and a dirty soda bar with many flavors. During this time, they turned on the movie, “The Princess Diaries,” to have a peaceful spa morning. After it ended, cabins selected one girl to dress up for the Girls Day fashion show where they styled them, and sent them to strut the runway.

The boys spent their day in a different way. They headed out to the BcK4T for lots of fun. To start, they hit play on a crowd favorite movie, “Cars.” Their counselors, unit leaders and program staff helped provide snacks for the event including popcorn, chips, soda and cookies galore! After the movie ended, the most interesting part of the morning began. Boy counselors and unit leaders volunteered to shave their heads if it would bring their campers a little joy, and joy it brought. Nine in total walked away from boys day with no hair on their heads, but a lot of happiness in their hearts.

It was a great start to an exciting Prom day. We had a wonderful time watching movies and getting ready for the Prom.
