Red Clay Strays Back At ASCCA

In 2017, ASCCA welcomed the Red Clay Strays to Camp to play in the concert series that summer. This was just the start of their journey at ASCCA. In the various years after, they continued to perform for our campers and staff before and after their rise in popularity. Their hit song “Wondering Why” shined a spotlight on the band that we were lucky enough to have seen before.

It did not simply introduce society to their great music, but instead, it highlighted both their music and the exemplary human beings that they are. We were so delighted to welcome them back to perform for our 50th summer at Camp.

As a fun twist, full-time staff decided to surprise campers and summer staff with the Red Clay Strays’ arrival. On Tuesday afternoon during snack, they shared the secret they’d been keeping, and passed out specially made t-shirts for the event. Later that evening, we settled into the BcK4T for the biggest night ever!

They played many of their amazing songs that touched us deeply. The Red Clay Strays’ music guided us into their hearts, sharing a special moment with us that helped us all feel seen. Even in fame, this band continues to show up and show out for ASCCA. They have shown us how to be kind without measure and humble without recognition.

The concert was the best night to celebrate our fourth session and 50 years of Camp ASCCA. We are so grateful to share in such a unique experience that we will carry with us forever. Thank you, Red Clay Strays, for loving ASCCA as much as we do!
